DAW Navigation

Regardless of your chosen DAW, there are a few basic navigational skills that we all have to learn before we can record or edit audio.

DAW Navigation Checklist

  1. Play/Stop from different Starting places in the DAW Timeline
    • Beginning, Middle, End, etc
  2. Toggle between the Edit and Mix Window
  3. Change Track Heights
  4. Zoom In/Out on waveform
  5. Zoom to show entire session (ALL the Clips in the Edit Window)
  6. Use a key command to do the following:
    • Tab Cursor to next Clip Boundary
    • Tab Cursor to previous Clip Boundary
    • Tab Cursor to next Audio Transient
    • Tab Cursor to previous Audio Transient
    • Note: Some DAWs cannot move the cursor with Tab key
