Welcome to Class - Ohlone Canvas

From MusicTechWiki

Hello Intro to Music Tech students!

First off, we just want to say thank you for choosing to take this course. Whether you are taking the class out of curiosity or looking to polish your music skillsets to enter the digital media content creation workforce, we aim to make these courses as fun, engaging and useful as possible for all students regardless of your level.

That being said, we also hope that everyone and their families are staying well and safe during the current COVID-19 situation. Music, as I’m sure a lot of you know, is a very therapeutic tool, so I’m glad that you are here with our department. Hopefully your music tech class can be a little oasis of relief during these times.

Alright! Let’s get down to business.

When you’re able to access your Music Tech courses on Canvas, please take some time to review the following:

Canvas Notifications

You might want to go into your Canvas Notifications and turn a lot of those OFF to minimize the chatter of your inboxes! Every time I edit, or even BREATHE on one of your Canvas items, your will get a "notification." This can be a distracting nuisance. Personally, I turn ALL Canvas notifications OFF except for a daily digest from the Announcements and instructor comments on assignments. But you are free to setup your own preferences. For more info, watch this very exciting video: Canvas Notification Preferences.

Course Syllabus

Almost everything you need to know about what’s in store for the quarter can be found in the syllabus. This includes software/hardware recommendations, contact information, and much much more. Be sure to Bookmark this page so that you have it as a reference throughout the quarter.

Assignments

The only assignment posted so far is a basic "Introduce Yourself" assignment in the Discussion Forum. Looking forward to meeting and connecting with you all!

Modules

The BEST way to navigate the content and assignments in this class is the Modules Page! You can also see Modules on the class canvas home page and in the left side bar menu. Practice clicking the Next or Previous buttons that the bottom of each Canvas page.

Canvas Student Profile

If you haven't already, be sure to update your student profile on Canvas to include a photo of yourself and a short bio. If you have any music online, include that link as well!

That should be enough to start us off.

If you have any questions or concerns, the BEST way to contact me is to send me an email at support@brucetambling.com

Stay well, and I look forward to the adventures in store this quarter.
