From MusicTechWiki

I hope the Fall Quarter is wrapping up smoothly for you!

Note: I cc'ed Mark Abrams and Guillaume Chadaillac from https://www.puremix.net/ in this email because I would love to offer subscriptions to pureMix to our Music Tech students through the Foothill College Bookstore. (see details below)

After a lot of consideration on many levels, I've decided to REMOVE all required textbooks from all of my classes except for the Avid Pro Tools Certification classes.

Avid Pro Tools Certification Textbooks - Winter 2022

In Winter 2022, I am scheduled to teach these classes which will require students to PURCHASE textbooks:

  1. MTEC 70A Avid Pro Tools 101 Certification by Frank Cook
  2. MTEC 70B Avid Pro Tools 110 Certification by Frank Cook
  3. MTEC 70C Avid Pro Tools 201 Certification by Frank Cook
  4. MTEC 70E Avid Pro Tools 210P Certification by Frank Cook
  5. MTEC 70F Avid Pro Tools 310M Certification by Frank Cook

Note: unlike our usual schedule, I will NOT be teaching MTEC70D Avid Pro Tools 210M Certification by Frank Cook in Winter 2022.

pureMix Pro

Instead of required textbooks in all my other MTEC classes, in Fall 2021 I tried an experiment REQUIRING students to SUBSCRIBE to PureMix Pro.

https://www.puremix.net/

PureMixPro, OMHO, is the most AMAZING Music Technology educational platform ever created on the planet, in the history of mankind! The founders of pureMix have been incredibly generous by offering our students a discount of $14.99/month (instead of the usual $350.00 per year). As an instructor, having access to pureMix curriculum has been nirvana. And, moving forward, I plan to continue requiring all of my MTEC students, in ALL of my classes, to subscribe to pureMix Pro.

Question >>>

How can we setup pureMix Pro subscription so our Foothill students can get this expense covered in financial aid? I've already declared and adopted pureMix Pro in all my syllabi. Is it possible to include the pureMix Pro subscription as a line item for sale through the Foothill Bookstore? Even though you will, presumably, need to mark up the cost, at least these students could allocate some of their financial aid (and avoid the out of pocket expense).

I'm not sure if or how that would work between pureMix and the Foothill Bookstore. But I'm 100% confident I plan to continue integrating pureMix Pro into all my Music Tech classes moving forward next year, and into the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to reach out to Mark and Guillaume at pureMix directly to discuss. They have been incredibly supportive to Foothill College!
